E-Coli Government routine monitoring programmes do not extend to private boreholes, where the onus is on each individual to ensure his/her borehole is analysed. A number of borehole owners have been astonished by laboratory results, especially when harmful bacteria are detected in their supposedly “clean” water. How do these bacteria get into the water supply? One reason could be a damaged pipe. Why are bacteria present if there are no humans in the vicinity? All mammal faeces contain bacteria. YOU CANNOT KNOW THE QUALITY OF WATER IF IT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED. Solution: Have your water tested (results within a few days!) and be confident in the quality of the water you drink.
