ACT-UIS has recently purchased and commissioned the new technologically advanced Elix 20 water purification system. The Elix 20 systems are designed to produce up to 20 L/h of Type II analytical-grade water from potable tap feed water. The resultant quality meets or exceeds the relevant standards as defined by CLSI, ISO® 3696 / BS 3997 as well as both the European and US Pharmacopoeia.
The new system will supply analytical grade water for all analyses performed in the ICP-OES & Wet-Chemical divisions and may also supply this water to clients wishing to rinse sampling equipment in the field. |

On 9 March 2007 the honourable Minister of Mineral Resources, Esperança Bias, visited our laboratory in Tete to study the progress of renovations and installations made to date. Although most of the equipment was still packed in containers due to the final alterations in various laboratory areas, the Minister was surprised with the speed and quality of the renovations.
Only two weeks before a long term contract for the rental of the laboratory site, which has given way to even larger investment on the site, has been signed with the Provincial Director of Mineral Resources Adelaide Jesus Pedro. It is expected that the present capacity of the new laboratory operation, which will start on the 1st of April 2007, will have to be rapidly expanded due to increased exploration activities, not only in the Tete area, but Mozambique in general. |
